Lassen Volcanic National Park is a magnificent park situated in the north eastern part of California and could be best compared to the vatnajökull national park in iceland. The main part of the park is the Lassen Volcanic National Park which still continues to have still active geology wonders. The highest peak is the volcano at Cascade Range. There were two separate monuments out here initially in the memory of President Roosevelt. These monuments were called the Cinder Cone National Monument and the Lassen Peak National Monument.
The area that surrounds the Lassen Volcanic National Park is still filled with lava and glowing mounds of mud inside. This is the reason why there are several hot springs to be found out here. There are several tourists attracted to the Lassen Volcanic National Park as this is the only place in the world where you will be able to see all the four kinds of volcanoes right from strato, plug dome, cinder cone and shield.
The Lassen Volcanic National Park is easily accessible as it is situated on the main state routes. You can enter the park through five different entrances in your vehicle. SR 89 is the state route that passes directly from the Lassen Volcanic National Park.
There are several natural trails that you can take in order to access the park as well. These are the Pacific Crest Trail and the Caribou Wilderness Trail. You can also take yourself to the Willow Lake and spend a tranquil afternoon there.
The Lassen Volcanic National Park had a large lodge called the Lassen Chalet until 2005. In its place is the newly constructed one that started operating from the year 2008. The wildflowers are so lush out here that they form a carpet at your feet.
This works out to be one of the best ways to get you close to nature. Lassen Volcanic National Park has everything that a nature lover would want for a holiday. There are the running trails, the bubbling mud pots, the springs and the best of what nature has to offer. There are two hydrothermal areas called the Devil's Kitchen and the Bumpass Hell that are a must see. This is one of the most unique of places that you could take yourself for a great getaway. The best thing is that it is so breathtakingly beautiful and yet it is not really so well known enough to have hordes of tourist descending on it. You will certainly find the hissing blowholes and the boiling mud pots a unique experience. This is one of the best hikes that you could ever take yourself on.
The lake in the Lassen Volcanic National Park is a perfect serene place to go in a kayak or rubber raft. Though there are no motorized boats available and the water in the lake is refreshingly cold.
